Following a Canada-wide search, CCSTA is pleased to announce that Julian Hanlon has been named Executive Director of its Association, effective July 1, 2015.
“Mr. Hanlon brings a wealth of experience in Catholic education”, President Michael St. Amand stated. He has served as Teacher, Vice-Principal, Principal, Supervisory Officer, and presently as the Director of Education for the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Mr. Hanlon will be succeeding John Stunt who is retiring from the position at the end of this year. We thank Mr. Stunt for his service to CCSTA and look forward to welcoming Mr. Hanlon to our Association.
Julian Hanlon, a resident of Ottawa, looks forward to the interesting work at CCSTA. Mr. Hanlon stated, “Over the years CCSTA has been a strong voice and advocate for Catholic Education in Canada. I’m excited about working with such an organization, and hope to continue the tradition of working closely with the Catholic community to strengthen and promote Catholic schools across the nation.”
Since its inception in 1960, CCSTA has had six Executive Directors (in earlier years, the position was Executive Secretary). The Executive Directors have been John Middleweek (1960-1977), Fr. Patrick H. Fogarty (1977-1985), Dr. B.E. Nelligan (1985-1992), Dr. John Flynn (1992-2004), W. Gregory McNally (2004-2009) and John Stunt (2010 – 2015).
CCSTA is the national voice for Catholic trustees, representing French and English boards in Canada which serve over 850,000 students in Catholic schools.
