The CCSTA is pleased to announce that this year’s Toonies for Tuition campaign will be distributing $74,000 to help ensure children and youth across Canada can access Catholic education in their hometown. That’s an increase of $17,700 (31%) over last year’s total. That money will be helping fund Catholic education for over 100 students and 20 schools in provinces with partial to no funding.
The enthusiasm shown by students and school staff in raising money for this great cause is inspiring. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, or helped spread the word. Your generosity is appreciated.
Since its inception in 2006, the CCSTA has distributed over $440,000 through the Toonies for Tuition campaign. Yet requests for assistance continue to outstrip our funding. It is our heartfelt desire that one day we will be able to ensure that no Catholic family who wants to send their child to a Catholic school will be turned away.
We now have an online donation button!

CSCNO Continues to Take Part in Toonies for Tuition
Le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) has been a generous supporter of the Toonies for Tuition campaign (called “Solidarité pour la scolarité” in French) for the past five years. They have an annual, board-wide dress down day along to go along with a few schools hosting fundraising events. They have raised over $7,500 to date.
“This fund-raising initiative is important for us to support families in other provinces who believe in the value of Catholic education and want to ensure that their children benefit from faith-based education,” said CSCNO President André Bidal.
He added that students and staff understand how fortunate they are to have access to publicly funded Catholic education and want to do their part to help those who don’t have the same access.
“Catholic education is important in so many ways,” he explained. “Not only does it bring Jesus Christ into the lives and souls of the students, it also provides students with important values based on the Lord’s teachings. Students learn to respect others, help those in need, and strive to be better individuals. These important values allow students to take their place in the world and help our society grow and thrive on the basis of Christian values. Catholic education offers students a solid foundation that will benefit them in their future studies, careers, and as citizens in Canada and elsewhere.”
